5.7 The Department of Health and Family Welfare

1. All primary health centers, district hospitals, and taluk hospitals should take necessary steps to prevent epidemics

2. Take necessary steps to ensure health facilities in relief camps

3. The health proceedings to be done in relief camps considering the Covid-19 scenario is given in Annexure 5.

4. Make sure that the medicines for monsoon diseases are available in all the hospitals and PHCs

5. Since the rate of snakebite incidents is high during the monsoon season, make sure the availability of Anti Venom in all the health centers after analysing the previous history of snakebite incidents. The list of hospitals possessing Anti Venom is provided in Annexure 7.

6. Make sure that the fitness of every hospital in the district is checked by the local administration after consulting the public works department engineer. Also make sure those buildings without fitness certificates are not functioning as hospitals.

7. The local self-government should make sure that the fire and safety precautions are working well in all the health centers with the help of the Fire and safety department. Every hospital building should obtain N.O.C from the Fire and safety department

8. Conduct awareness programmes emphasising the role of cleanliness in disease resistance. 9. Ask the Department of Industries and Commerce to list the hazardous chemicals in Kerala, how much, and where, before June 1(Along with the name of the local self-government). If such contaminants are combined with water, dirt, or air and are life-threatening, report the processes, drugs, etc. Establishment of government hospitals in these catchment areas with immunization is necessary.
