5.16 The Department of Civil Supplies

1. 100kg rice, 50kg peas, 10kg oil, and 75kg kerosene should be collected and stored for emergency situations in every taluk through the civil supplies officer. The civil supplies officer, on the request of the Tahsildar should directly provide the food grains, oil, and kerosene to the relief camps under emergency situations.

2. The district disaster management authority is instructed to buy the food grains, oil, kerosene, and cooking gas from Supply Co and Consumer Fed only. Instructions should be given in advance to the responsible officers of the mentioned firms to make sure about the availability of the above-said items.

3. If any of these commodities need to be bought from outside, the supply officer/ institution head should certify the lack of the same in writing to the revenue officer in charge of disaster management.

4. All the Consumer Fed, Supply Co, Civil Supplies PDS Shops in Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts that were affected by the 2018 flood should make necessary arrangements to prevent any such incidents and thereby ensure the proper functioning of the public distribution system. Commodities should be kept at a minimum height of 2m from ground level.
