5.19 The Department of Water Transport

1. Provide vehicles to the district disaster management authority for the transportation of relief materials during emergencies.

2. Provide a district-wise inventory containing details of boats, their owners, contact numbers, and places where they are available to the district disaster management authority before 30th May.

3. In Kuttanad area during a flood scenario, people stranded on islands may not be able to access toilets. In such circumstances, boats with toilets should he halted nearby to provide the required facilities to them. The discussion should be carried out with boat owners regarding the same and rate contract can be invited in accordance with Ltr. No. 33-2/2015-NDM-I dated 17th April 2015 from Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India if necessary.
