5.24 The Department Of Forest and Wildlife

1. Restrict the inflow of tourists to the forest if Orange, Red, or any other specific alerts are declared by the State Authority.

2. Ensure that the natives as well as the indigenous community living in that area are not deprived of food and other essentials during the rainy season.

3. The department is entitled to find the necessary camps or other nearby structures to rehabilitate the indigenous people living in the forest area in case of an emergency. The details of such buildings are to be provided to the respective Range Officer / Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes Development Officer and the Tahsildar. If private buildings are used, contact the Village Officer and the Tahsildar to complete the Rate Contract process, which is required to be leased out of the disaster response fund.

4. The management of these camps within the forest will be under the combined responsibility of the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes Development Department and the Forest Department. To ensure the proper functioning of such camps, due consultations should be taken from the respective District Collector and the Tahsildar.

5. Make sure there is no discrimination in the camps

6. Regularly monitor the occurrence of catastrophic occurrences within the forest and the same shall be reported to the respective village office.

7. In case of emergency the VHF system of forest department should be made available to District Collector and Tahsildars for communication.

8. The service of the Forest Department should be made available to the District Disaster Management Authority in case of an emergency
