5.26 The Department of Social Welfare
1. The rainy season is the worst for the homeless, for those people who wander in the streets, sleeps at the bus stops, etc., are in grave futility during this period. The department should ensure them shelter and food during rainy seasons. Such relief camps should be in coordination and under the flagship of the local self-government.
2. If citizens above 60 years are accommodated in these camps, proper facilities according to Appendix 3 should be taken into consideration while preparing a place to accommodate them. The department should also provide additional assistance, expertise, and essential services to such facilities.
3. Provide the list of differently able individuals including their home address, the mobile phone number to the respective panchayat secretary, tahsildar.
4. The above information shall also be made available to the Asha workers and the Aganavadi workers and the aganavadi supervisor should be entrusted with the duty of ensuring that the information regarding an outbreak of any disaster reaches them at the earliest.
5. The contact number of the differentially able or their assistant's mobile phone details should be made available to the District Social Justice Department's Office.
6. This information should be kept by the department and they shall make use of the same to connect them through SMS and WhatsApp to convey information available from the District Disaster Management Authority.

8. State Disaster Management Authority has prepared various information on disasters and has published them in Braille script for the visually challenged individuals. The printout out of the same can be sent to the Panchayat if necessary. The Social Justice Department should send the request regarding the same to the State Disaster Management Authority as per the requirement of the respective panchayats.
9. Provide the list of Patients, those suffering from Geriatric Disease including their home address, the mobile phone number to the respective panchayat secretary, tahsildar.

A special plan should be made to evacuate/rescue the geriatric/bedridden patients, differently able individuals, taking on board the department of revenue, the police, the fire force, and the local self-government. It is also advisable to seek help from various NGOs working towards the welfare of the above-mentioned populace.

15. Ensure that girls and pregnant women receive temporary nutritional assistance, medical help, and adequate psychological support in the temporary relief camps.
16. The parents should be discouraged in taking their children while visiting their homes or areas where the disaster has stroked.
17. Special attention and security must be made available to the geriatric centers under the Department of Social Justice.
18. Ensure the availability and supportability of the aids used by the differentially able individuals.
19. All the disaster Relief camps shall be equipped with wheelchairs and wheelchair friendly toilet facilities. Ensure the availability of frequent medication to the needy.
20. Establish psychosocial care for people with mental illness. It should be made sure that these people or their families are not being discriminated against.
21. Ensure adequate care and protection for patients in palliative care, and ensure the availability of their medications. Steps should be taken to ensure that medical support and drugs for these patents are always at their disposal.
22. Ensure that there is no discrimination in camps; and emergency helpline numbers regarding the same shall be made available and must be published for the inmates.
23. Ensure that transgender people are not discriminated in the camps.
