5.23 The Department Of Tourism

1. Authorities should limit the travel of tourists to major tourist destinations based on weather forecasts and warnings, In the event of an accident in major tourism sectors, a plan should be prepared, including evacuation strategies, alternatives, and measures to mitigate disaster risk.

2. DTPC should ensure the establishment of signboards should be installed at river bathing sites that provide a warning to the public regarding floods during the rainy season.

3. Instruct the District Council to set up warning boards to prevent people from entering reservoirs, dams, or sea during the rainy season.

4. During the rainy season, there is a possibility of landslides and flooding along the roads near the hills. Signboards are to be installed in such areas to caution Tourists so that they do not park their cars over there.

5. In case of heavy rainfall for more than two days, the tourism department should restrict the entry of tourists to the area.

6. Information on boats and boat owners, their current status, and their respective mobile numbers should be made available to the district's disaster management authority by 30th May.

7. The District Tourism Development Committee to set up signboards in riverine, beaches, and water bodies in tourist attractions. In the event of severe winds, coastal erosion, and waves, do not allow anyone to get into the water in such hazardous areas. The DTPC is to make sure that all the above necessary steps are put in place by the respective district tourism promotion councils.
