Conclusion

Presently, the country has been giving more importance to saving the life of each and every person from various disasters through disaster mitigation activities. In India, The Union Home Affairs Department has given the 5th rank for Kerala in its disaster mitigation activities. Kerala state has introduced several exemplary models for disaster mitigation. Differently-Abled friendly disaster mitigation scheme is one among that, and the Central Differently-Abled friendly disaster mitigation scheme has referred this Kerala model to follow by other states. Kerala Disaster Management Authority extends its functions in all areas.

We have a long way to go to disaster mitigation and response activities. For that, we have to learn scientifically from our experiences. And also, society needs a successful attitude which is based on planning to make corrections where it needs to be corrected, to be more efficient to deal with difficult disasters, and to mitigate disasters.

This handbook is just the beginning. With the same precision of election, we must be able to prepare for and respond to the monsoon disasters. For this, we invite the valuable suggestions and instructions from authorities to modify this handbook. Each year the book will be republished and summarizes the experiences and good practices of the previous year. The methodology which is based on science, experience, and planning has always helped Kerala to be at the forefront of social norms. Let us join hands for a safe Kerala.

The respective departments should submit a report to the Disaster Management Authority on the 5th of June 2020, regarding the administration of the preparatory activities specified in this handbook. The District Disaster Mitigation Authorities are responsible to submit a detailed report on their own initiatives and the actions taken by the various departments at the district level on June 5.
