5.13 The Department of Soil Conservation

1. Ensure that, all the water streams, drainages and other water bodies are free from blocks and chocks with the help of Department of Local Self Government and department of Irrigation.

2. Promote the necessary campaigns to reduce the risk of soil erosion and landslides on the hilly terrains of the state. The Content necessary for the campaigns will be made available by the State Disaster Management Authority.

3. Identify the blockages in the streams and notify the above to district disaster management authority and Local Self Government.

4. In case of emergencies, the services of the Soil Conservation Department of the district should be made available to the District Disaster Management Authority.

5. The villages most likely to be vulnerable to earthquake / landslide / soil piping should be registered once a month with the soil management officer. The above said list of villages can be get it from the concern district collectors or the hand book, the link is given here.
