1.6 Flood Forecast

Central water commission (CWC) at present, the water levels in the rivers are constantly being monitored in 39 places in the state. These places are listed in Annexure 8. The water level in fifteen stations, the water level forecast for the next twenty-four hours, and the water level issued by the yellow, orange, and red alerts, once daily, during the monsoon season, is available in CWC website. These are available to all DDMAs, and public by disaster management authority. These can be seen here.

Currently, Kerala has not received any response from the Central Water Commission on the preparation of the flood susceptibility map and the flood hazard prone map. The availability of these is essential to the preparation of flood mitigation and response plans. The Central Water Commission has given written notification of the above request.
