4.2 Guidelines for the Helicopter landing
1. The District Disaster Management Authority will provide a map and list of the locations for helicopters to land in the district.
2. If there is a helicopter landing situation, complete the steps below
a. If there is a water-logging advise the Public Works Department to take action
b. If you have trees, roads, or ropes that are prone enough to damage the helicopter, remove them.
c. A team of Navy and Air Force personnel (whose helicopters are to arrive) will arrive the day before the helicopter arrives. Make sure they have the hotel accommodation
d. If the helicopter stays overnight, make sure that the hotel accommodation is available to them including pilot
e. If the state authority announced the arrival of the helicopter, the helicopter landing place may be under the surveillance of the police.
f. At least 1 hour before the helicopter arrives, the landmark is marked, and the police are to evacuate all persons within 50 meters of the site.
g. If the helicopter arrives containing the relief material, ensure that the transportation is available to collect them and distribute them at the designated centers immediately.
h. For this purpose, ensure that the Department of Transportation finds the trucks in advance and has reached an agreement with the owners
In case of additional deployment of central forces or logistics in the flight, take the following steps:
A. If the relief material is to be transported, make sure to collect them immediately and transport them to the specified collection center
B. If troops are deployed, be prepared with the buses and big trucks
C. Ensure that the Department of Transportation has already identified the trucks for this purpose and has reached an agreement with the owners
